North Port Job Growth
Forbes magazine just released its top 10 cities for job growth and North Port made the list. Not a big surprise for people who have lived in this area for any length of time. North Port has had a steady increase in population over the years; all you have to do is drive North on Route 41 Tamiami Trail and observe the road construction and constant increase of retail shops to realize this is a thriving community.
Until recently North Port has been known as a retirement community. Later, it became a bedroom community for commuters working in Sarasota and Fort Myers. Fast access to I-75 typically makes the travel time less than an hour in either direction. Many people have recognized the benefit to living in a small city close to Gulf beaches, golfing, and other amenities.
Large developers have also discovered this area and currently there are many new housing projects underway along with expansion of some existing neighborhoods. With plenty of land to expand, good schools, and city services in place, North Port job growth is picking up. The area is now ready to start courting more healthcare, light industrial, and business opportunities to increase their tax base and help sustain their future growth.
